“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning , but anyone can start today and make a new ending”
-Maria Robinson
Welcome to Bright Horizons Counseling Services, conveniently located in the city of Hawthorne. Here, our Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) understand the stigma associated with mental illness and are working on combating that stigma by providing a safe space to tell your story and explain your journey in what we call, life. Our mission is to help our clients learn and sustain how to become emotionally healthy individuals prepared to face the world with their heads held high and with the necessary tools to face them.
We aim to educate and equip our clients in a safe and peaceful environment while offering them interventions to succeed in their everyday lives. We understand that many people have anxiety about therapy and opening up to a complete stranger, so we created a soothing environment that fosters healing and growth.

Tyra Torian, PPSC, LCSW
Tyra Torian is a Los Angeles native that has always had a passion for helping others. Tyra completed her undergraduate studies in Washington D.C. at Howard University receiving her B.A. in English. Tyra returned to California for her Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Southern California (USC). Tyra’s passion lead her to community mental health where she provided stellar services to the South L.A. community for ten years. Tyra served as both a clinician as well as program coordinator to several programs contracted through the Department of Mental Health (DMH). After her time in community mental health, Tyra recognized that her work needed to expand into the school district to help bring awareness to mental health and social emotional issues that impeded children from learning. While serving the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District (NLMUSD) Tyra has been able to implement a referral system for teachers and administrators to recognize and refer students in need of mental health services. In addition, Tyra developed a community resource collaborative to involve local agencies within the community to develop a memorandum of understanding (MOU)with the district in order to provide the best services to the district’s students and their families. The thing about passion is that it can drive a person to reach what many see as unattainable, but Tyra didn’t allow fear to dictate her next move into private practice. Serving her community has always been her top priority and starting a private practice with her business partner allowed Tyra to continue her passion.
