Individual and Couples Therapy
Individual therapy (sometimes called “psychotherapy” or “counseling”) is a process through which clients work one-on-one with a trained therapist—in a safe, caring, and confidential environment—to explore their feelings, beliefs, or behaviors, work through challenging or influential memories, identify aspects of their lives that they would like to change, better understand themselves and others, set personal goals, and work toward desired change.
Couples therapy is a type of psychotherapy. Couples therapy helps couples of all types recognize and resolve conflicts and improve their relationships. Through couples therapy, you can make thoughtful decisions about rebuilding and strengthening your relationship or going your separate ways.

Group Therapy
Group therapy is a process through which a small group of people (generally six to ten) meet face-to-face with a trained group therapist to talk about a particular issue with which all of them is struggling—such as grief/bereavement, anger management, eating disorders, living with chronic depression or anxiety, domestic violence, recovering from childhood sexual abuse, etc.
Under the direction of the group therapist, members share and explore their feelings and behaviors, hear different points of view and coping strategies, and receive encouragement from others facing similar issues. Group therapy provides participants a powerful opportunity to share and learn from others in a safe and supportive environment while working toward healing and change.

Psychological Assessments for Asylum
Applying for asylum in the United States can be a strenuous process for both applicants and immigration attorneys. We at Bright Horizons can provide diagnostic information that may support applicants’ claims, but we can evaluate how culture and mental health symptoms relate to perceived deficits in credibility or delays in asylum application. We can define mental health treatment needs and estimate the possible effects of repatriation on mental health. We can also provide supportive functions for clients as they prepare for testimony. Finally, in a consultative role, we can help immigration attorneys to improve their ability to elicit trauma narratives from asylum applicants safely and efficiently and to enhance their resilience in response to vicarious trauma and burnout symptoms arising from work with asylum seekers.
